Health Care Industry
There are about 580,000 establishments that make up the health care industry, in the US alone. They all vary greatly in terms of size, organizational structures, and staffing patterns. Hospitals constitute only 1 per cent of all health care establishments but they employ 35 percent of all workers. On the other hand, about 77 per cent of health care establishments are offices of physicians, nurses, dentists, or other health practitioners.
