Job Corps builds pride
The Job Corps’ annual ceremony – timed for when the largest percentage of students finishes academic work for a diploma or GED – is one of many ways the center hopes to change perceptions and improve operations, center leaders said.
Funded by the federal Labor Department, the Job Corps is the nation’s oldest and largest dropout prevention effort. Job Corps contracts with private companies that have taken over its 122 residential and vocational training facilities for young men and women, ages 16 to 24.
